January can be an emotionally difficult month. Christmas and New years have passed, and every day seems to be cold, dark, and miserable! We need something to cheer us up! Well, just yesterday (while checking the miserable weather forecast) I noticed something that brought a glimmer of hope to me and reminded me of this month in a spiritual way. I discovered that the sun has started rising 2 minutes earlier and setting 2 minutes later each day! Now, that’s only 4 little extra minutes a day, but I got to thinking, “The sun is coming back, little by little each day!” And that got me to thinking, this month we have also seen some precious additional “minutes” of the Son…the Light…shining in North Wales. Yes, times are dark and cold in many ways, but as I look back (and even forward) I’m reminded, “the sun…indeed, The Son, is coming back.”
Here’s some of the “minutes” of “Son-shine” that have been added this month:
Need More Lego!
The Lego Club in Warrington has been growing like crazy. This last month I got to give a short talk using Balloon Powered Lego Cars as an activity/illustration! It was a great time to meet people and share with them a little bit about God’s love. So many of these young families are not in church and we hope Lego Club can be a way to win them over to Christ. In fact, we are so in love with the idea of Lego club that we’ve decided to start one in our church in Colwyn Bay. Stay tuned!
Back to Schools work
After the holidays, we hit the ground running with some really encouraging involvement with two local schools. Rydal Penrhos invited me to participate in one of their iChapel sessions. Stay tuned for a link to digital chapel assembly (YouTube) in April. Then, at Ysgol Aberconwy, where I meet weekly with a Christian Union, I was able to be a part of one of the school’s morning assemblies. This was a great opportunity to get more exposure for the C.U.
Test Driving Shuffle and Shake
We had our first “test drive” of Shuffle and Shake last Monday night and it went really well. I can see this being really successful later this year. Please continue to pray for all these endeavours – that God’s Light will shine in North Wales.
